Job summary
Velindre Cancer Centre is a division of the Trust, and one of the leading non-surgical oncology centres in the United Kingdom. The challenge is to go further and achieve the quality of services, patient experience and clinical outcomes that are comparable with the best in Europe and the western world. In support of this ambition, the Trust has facilitated the Transforming Cancer Services Programme, which sets out a compelling vision for excellence in South East Wales. Working closely with Welsh Government and Local Health Boards, the programme will consist of a number of projects which include the development of a new cancer centre in Cardiff, a Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Abergavenny and the reconfiguration of outreach services. Knowledge of the Mutual Investment Model (MIM) is desirable for this role.
The role is offered as a 36 months secondment or fixed term appointment which could be extended depending on Welsh Government Funding. The successful applicant will need to establish credibility with a wide range of stakeholders and have the required knowledge and performance skills to fulfil the duties and responsibilities outlined within the Job Description.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills;
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate sound judgement in dealing with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a professional climate is maintained throughout;
- Applicants must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Project software and be able to maximise the use of technology in making the project run smoothly and efficiently;
- The successful applicant will be required to ensure that the Trust is prepared for the design completion, construction and transition & commissioning phases and any assurance reviews/gateways that will be required;
- The post holder will be expected to set up meetings and attend events e.g. Patient User Group meetings, working alongside other workstream leads.
- The post holder will be proficient in the use of Asite the projects document repository for sharing and receiving documentation from Project Co, ensuring accuracy and security at all times;
- The post holder will assist the Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and Principal Project Manager with workstream monitoring and reporting;
- The postholder will support and co-ordinate the status reporting of projects and workstreams through the relevant governance channels ;
- The postholder will support the Risk & Issues champion to actively manage and report against the projects risks and issues;
