The post holder will be embedded into the experienced Eastern cancer services pharmacy team which includes six cancer services clinical pharmacists and a specialist medicines management technician. Together the team provides oncology and haematology ward support, Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) verification, clinical trial SACT verification, and JACIE accredited transplant service support. The team works closely with the multi-disciplinary cancer services team including doctors, nurses and non-medical prescribers.

As a key member of the Trust, youll be joining an exceptional team working together to help our patients when they need it most.

Job Responsibilities

More detail about the role

We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is able to work both independently and effectively as part of our team. The candidate would need to be able to provide a competent and efficient ward-based service, while supporting other members of the team with the timely verification of SACT for our main and outreach sites.

You will be joining our team at an exciting time, as we become further integrated into multidisciplinary developments within the wider cancer SACT service. The Trust implementation of the MyCare (EPIC) system in 2020 has modernised our services, which currently runs parallel with the Chemocare v 6.07 database. However, we are excited to be starting the planning for the Peninsula-wide Beacon Oncology module of EPIC this month.

Our prescribing pharmacists are committed to supporting non-medical prescribing (NMP) clinics, and the SACT day-case unit, with all our current pharmacists being qualified prescribers or in training to become a prescriber. Our department is integral to the current cancer services strategy of rapid NMP clinic expansion to meet increasing demand for SACT, and we have pharmacist work stations in our newly integrated haematology/oncology SACT day unit to provide excellent patient focused care.

As valued members of the cancer services team, and with plenty of scope to develop in the role, our pharmacists enjoy a high level of job satisfaction.

Please note that you will be notified via email regarding the result of your application.

Please note the Job Description is going through the Job Matching process and is subject to change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 per week. Requirement to participate in 7 day working to include on-call, late duties, bank holidays and weekend working as part of your contracted week.

Interview Date: Tuesday 25th March 2025.

For further information and to arrange an informal visit to meet the team, please contact: Libby Hardy, Principal Pharmacist, Cancer Services Tel 01392 402446 libby.hardy@nhs.net.
