Clinical Nurse Specialist (Secondary Breast)

Job summary

The post holder will be required to work autonomously as well part of the immediate MDT and larger teams participating in the holistic assessment of Secondary Breast patients. You will give advice, instigate investigations and implement patient care as appropriate to manage the patient, supporting the patients and their loved ones throughout the pathway.

You will provide essential communication to improve patient experience and quality of care, reducing lengths of stay and avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions.

You will support the Band 8a and lead consultant in the planning and development of the future service in accordance with the Trust\'s policies and procedures utilising the most effective resources.

Alongside the breast team you will provide specialist advice and education to health professionals regarding patients symptoms or side effects, related to the treatment or cancer to improve quality of life.

As the Band 7 you will be required to be a non-medical prescriber, training will be provided to support the delivery of nurse led clinics.

The Oncology and Haematology services have been successful in gaining a significant financial investment, increasing the head count by an additional 79 posts across the multi-disciplinary team.

The Secondary Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist ("CNS") team are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic, patient focused nurse with recent oncology/haematology experience, to help us maintain the delivery of high-quality care to patients referred to our team.

As a Secondary Breast CNS, you will holistically assess the patients current needs providing supportive care to improve their cancer experience and quality of life.

The Band 7 will provide the clinical leadership for the secondary service working closely with the Lead Breast CNS & Lead Cancer Nurse providing advanced practice to this group of patients

You will be an integrated member of the multidisciplinary team working across the whole patient pathway. This will incorporate supporting the patient as required throughout their breast / oncology pathway. You will be expected to work within the team as well as autonomously, prioritising and managing your caseload and time appropriately.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours
