Main duties of the job
The post will enable the successful applicant to develop their sub speciality elective interests to compliment the existing consultant staff.
The appointee will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the clinical service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues towards achieving and maintaining region leading surgical waiting times and post-op length of stay. There will be a commitment to General Orthopaedic on-call as part of this post, which at present is 1 in 8. The appointee may be required to do some elective lists at a regional elective centre as part of the job plan.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative, and progressive Locum Consultant to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics Consultant team. The appointee will be based at North Devon District Hospital taking a place on a 1:8 general trauma rota and have a foot and ankle or hand and wrist sub specialist interest that complements the department. Applications are welcomed from candidates with FRCS (or equivalent). In addition, applicants should demonstrate within their application that they are full trained in the generality of Trauma and Orthopaedics, can manage an unselected general trauma take and have the relevant training and experience in their chosen lower limb sub speciality.
This job is a 6-month fixed-term post.
