Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia at North Devon District Hospital, part of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Northern Services). The acute hospital in Barnstaple provides a full complement of secondary care services including emergency care, robotic surgery, tertiary abdominal wall reconstruction surgery, maternity and paediatric services.

The successful applicant will join the growing Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain. They will provide a mixture of theatre lists and participation in the out-of-hours service - providing anaesthetic support to theatres, maternity and pain management. They will have the opportunity to grow their career alongside living in one of the most beautiful places in the UK. This post would be ideally suited to both those who have just finished training and those who are further on in their careers, looking for a new challenge. Many of our team have interests outside Anaesthetics, including radiology, retrieval medicine and technology, and we are supportive as a department in making sure that everyone has their own perfect work-life balance.

North Devon has some of the best beaches in the UK, is the UKs only World Surf Reserve and has the nearby National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor.
