Job summary

The post holder will primarily provide administrative support to the Surgical Team and provide cover for other Receptionists/Booking Clerks within the Hospital. The reception post will involve learning Day Case Admin, Minor Injury admin, X-ray admin and the basics of Physiotherapy admin as well as general reception duties. The post holder will be part of a Trust Administration team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a receptionist, to join our busy administrative team at Exmouth Hospital. The hospital is a busy and stimulating place to work and benefits from excellent team working and an innovative new Trust-wide IT system.

The post holder will be required to support the Exmouth Community Hospital Team and the effective delivery of services. You must have experience of dealing with the public and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. A good level of IT skills and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team is essential for this role. You will be working with a wide range of people and communicating with both patients and staff therefore empathy and patience is essential

Duties will predominantly include, amongst other tasks, reception and administrative work for the main hospital, Surgical Day Case and various out-patient departments. Dealing with telephone and face to face enquires from members of the public, daily contact with clinicians and other professionals, co-ordinating room bookings, dealing with out-patient appointments, inputting patient information onto the Trust electronic patient records; scanning; organising outgoing and incoming post; ordering and receipting stores.

Working Pattern: 30hrs per week over 4 days Tuesday to Friday 08:00 16:00. This is a generic role and you may be required to work up to full time hours to cover annual leave/sickness in various departments.
