Our offer to you

We offer a Band 3 paid role for those returning to registered healthcare careers which includes a fixed-term contract for the duration of your required supervised placement hours, a skills portfolio, and support to help you re-register with the HCPC.

There is no formal training programme linked to HCPC registration. Instead, you will be supported with a programme of learning that consists of on-the-job practice, and private study. You will have a practice supervisor who will work with you to sign off your clinical skills booklet and supervised hours. Once your skills booklet is completed and you are registered with the HCPC, you will be offered a permanent position at the Royal Devon on an agreement that you work with us for a minimum of two years.

What support can I expect?

You wont be doing this alone, we'll help you build your confidence and settle in through our comprehensive Preceptorship Programme and nationally-recognised Buddy Scheme.

Your health and wellbeing are important to us, so alongside a full induction process and e-learning, well also provide a refresher of how to take care of yourself in the work environment. Part of this process includes supporting you with updating your core competencies, essential training and clinical skills, and making sure you have everything you need to feel safe and supported at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Further funding may be available for your training from Health Education England (HEE) for out-of-pocket expenses and relevant courses. Details of this are provided on application.

Whats involved in the Return to Practice programme?

The length of your return to practice placement hours depends on your length of time away from clinical practice.

• If you have been out of practice for less than 2 years, there is no need to do any additional study or work experience. You can apply for relevant jobs straight away
• Out of practice 2-5 years requires 30 days (210 hours) of updating skills
• Out of practice 5+ years requires 60 days (420 hours) of updating skills
