A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a clinical matron within the critical care department in our Northern Services team at Royal Devon University Hospitals NHS Foundation trust (the Royal Devon). This is your chance to lead a successful and highly motivated team delivering care to some of our most unwell patients. Youll provide strong leadership and wellbeing support to our staff whilst further developing the department and ensuring the highest standards of care. ABOUT THE TEAM:As matron, you will work as part of the senior leadership team within the critical care unit working closely with the multidisciplinary team to drive change and innovation. The unit boasts a strong and experienced nursing workforce with exceptional collaboration with all AHP teams that work in our speciality including therapy, pharmacy, and dietitians. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring collaborative working from all disciplines who work in the unit. The clinical lead works very closely with the unit matron to ensure joined up thinking from our nursing and medical teams.

WHAT YOU'LL DOYoull act as an autonomous professional leader with strategic responsibilities for critical care and wider operational responsibilities in line with other clinical matrons across the Trust. Your role will cover critical care nursing teams providing expert clinical leadership as well as professional development and wellbeing support to the team, alongside professional supervision to the inpatient pain nurses and outpatients lead nurse. You will lead the clinical governance agenda within critical care alongside your clinical lead and oversee the nursing education and practice development on the unit alongside the experienced clinical educators. As matron, you will be responsible for leading your senior team to achieve consistently high standards of quality, compassionate care for our patients.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:The ideal candidate will have a critical care background, evidence of wider experience at senior nurse level and experience of managing complex workload areas. This role requires a visible, credible senior nurse, accessible to all staff, patients and families for assistance and support. The successful candidate will be accountable for maintaining patient safety and the quality of patient experiences. They will be responsible for managing the provision of nursing services and the clinical, managerial and professional leadership of the nursing teams. If applying for this post your portfolio will include strong clinical knowledge, pervious management experience and demonstrate experience in influential leadership, negotiation and change management skills.
