Job summary

The Linen Services Department is a busy, key function within the Estates & Facilities Management Division, decontaminating circa 310,000 items of Healthcare linen per week and providing essential services to the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, as well as other NHS Trusts and Units across the South West area.

We are keen to employ enthusiastic, friendly and highly motivated individuals who are able to work well in a busy environment and to the exacting decontamination and disinfection standards required of a modern facility providing this essential service.

You will be required to work in any area of the Linen Services, on a rotational basis, working to pre-defined Healthcare and decontamination standards. Duties will include the receipt, grading and classification of used linen, the high speed, high quality finishing of clean linen items, packing, vehicle loading, despatch and various other duties which may include clean linen distribution and patient clothing laundering within the Hospital as well as assisting occasionally in our sewing room.

You will be required to operate a variety of industrial washing, decontamination and finishing equipment, maintaining a high standard throughout to meet demanding operational requirements.

Ideally with production line experience, you will need to be flexible, physically fit and have the ability to carry out highly repetitive tasks as well as accurately completing production and packing related documents.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Rosters will involve working Saturday or a Sunday as part of the 37.5 hour weekly roster. Working hours on weekday shifts will be 08:00 to 16:00, whilst at a weekend, you will be required to work a 06:00 to 14:00 shift. A rota pattern will be issued as part of the induction process.

Weekend shifts will be paid at Agenda For Change (AFC) enhanced rates. There are often further opportunities to enhance your earning potential by working additional shifts / hours in line with Working Time Directive regulations, where available.
