Job summary

  • Provide a proactive and professional welcome to the Ward reception, acting as the public face for the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Sidmouth Hospital.
  • Deliver an efficient Administrative and Clerical service to the Ward team.
  • Maintain effective communication to both patients, relatives and staff in order to ensure the smooth running of the Ward; enhancing patient care.
  • Ensure all information is secure and confidentiality of information is maintained at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer care which may include communication with distressed and anxious patients and relatives, treating them with tact and empathy.
  • Ensure the professional image of the Trust is maintained at all times

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Inpatient Ward as a Ward Clerk.

Our admin team is made up of a Locality Business Manager, Admin Line Manager and our friendly dedicated admin staff.

You will deal with referrals, admitting patients onto the ward and dealing with their subsequent pathway through the Hospital.

You must have excellent communication skills with a pleasant telephone manner. It is essential that you have the ability to interact with patients calmly, sensitively and efficiently both on the telephone and in person. You will need to be computer literate and have experience of working with the general public.

You must be able to use your own initiative, prioritising your workload to meet the changing needs of the department.

Working Pattern: 15 hours per week. Wednesday-Friday Post 1: 08:00 - 13:00 or Post 2: 12.30 - 17:30.
