Job summary

Role Summary

The post-holder will be part of the Sexual Health team, working under the supervision of qualified nursing staff. They will assist in the care of patients within the department and carry out general duties to enable the effective running of clinics including entering data as necessary. To carry out clinical and non-clinical duties as required by the department i.e. chaperoning medical and nursing staff. The post holder will be responsible for the preparation of the clinical area and assisting colleagues in performing genital biopsies, IUD/ IUS fits, Nexplanon insertion and removals and other medical / contraceptive procedures.

We are looking to recruit a part-time, Band 2 Clinical Support Worker to join the expanding team in this busy sexual health department.

Working under the supervision of qualified nursing and medical staff, the post-holder will assist in the care of patients within the department and carry out general duties to enable the effective running of clinics. This will include a range of clinical and non-clinical tasks, such as: chaperoning patients during clinical examinations and procedures, undertaking venepuncture, stocking clinic rooms, ordering clinical supplies, filing results and entering data.

Previous experience working in sexual health or any related health field is desirable but not essential as training can be given. However, an ability to deal professionally and sensitively with the general public is essential. We work with a diverse range of patients, and the post-holder must be non-judgmental with excellent communication skills, and a positive, self-motivated attitude.

The clinics are based in Exeter city centre and surrounding locality areas. Applicants for this post need to be able to manage a demanding workload, and have the flexibility to work within the needs of the service, to include some evenings and potential weekend work.

Working Pattern: 3 days: Mon, Weds, Fri.This is a 12 month fixed-term post.
