Job summary

We are looking for experienced Security Officers to join our Team at Solent, based at our site at Western Community Hospital in Southampton!

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for internal/external patrolling, CCTV monitoring, locking and unlocking of various sites and dealing with security related incidents as they arise.

The Security Officers will be responsible for ensuring a high quality of Security service to the Trust. You will protect, investigate, act and endeavour to always create and maintain a safe and crime free environment. You will be expected to carry out Security duties quickly and efficiently with due care and concern for patients' comfort, welfare, dignity, and privacy. Work with minimum supervision under the guidance of Security Management, following well established operating procedures.

You must be a motivated and organised professional with the ability to communicate with staff, patients and visitors to the sites. You should be confident using a computer as your role will include analysing data, monitoring systems and reporting incidents through Solent's internal reporting system.

This is a full-time position -- 12 hr shifts - an average of 37.5 hours per week on 4 on 4 off pattern (including evenings and weekends -- with unsociable payment enhancements of up to 69%) with the option of joining the NHS Pension Scheme.

Main duties of the job

To ensure a secure and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff

To safeguard the property of patients, visitors, and staff

To safeguard Trust property and assets against acts of theft, fire, vandalism, and to uphold good order on site

To carry out Security duties quickly and efficiently with due care and concern for patients welfare, dignity, comfort, and privacy

The holder must be able to work with minimal supervision under the guidance of Security Management, following well established operating procedures

Working with other facilities, estates, and clinical departments to maintain effective relationship

To act with compassion, be courteous, acting without fear, favour, or prejudice to the rights of others

Take responsibility for patient, staff, visitors care in non-clinical areas requiring specific First Aid, Basic Life Support and Automated External Defibrillator skills until emergency services attend

About us

We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by the end of 2024.

Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.

The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on the day the trust is formed. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
