Job summary
This post include participation in the in-hours Child Protection rota with other senior doctors. Participation in the out-of-hours rota for forensic child sexual abuse will also be expected. This is currently 1:14 bank holidays and weekends 8.30am -- 6pm. A lead role within the department will be negotiated depending on the interests and expertise of the successful applicant and the needs of the department.
The post is for a maximum of 6PAs. The successful applicant will have clinical responsibility for neurodevelopmental and neuro-disability clinics within South East Hampshire. There may also a requirement for cross cover across Portsmouth clinics in the future. The office base will be at Alpha Court, Segensworth, but will move to the new Fareham CDC when that is completed.
Please note there is also a full time (10PA) post being advertised, we will consider applicants wanting to work a minimum of 6PA. The post includes responsibility for locality neurodevelopmental clinics in the New Forest, including a special school catering for a wide range of needs at primary, and SLD/PMLD at secondary level. It includes a lead role for postgraduate education. Other clinical responsibilities could be negotiated dependant on the skills and interest of the successful applicant. Main duties of the job
To provide medical input for multi-disciplinary work for children with complex disabilities from the locality.
To provide input to children with special needs in various settings ie special schools and clinics.
To carry out child protection medical duties as required by the service, which would include seeing children at the request of health professionals, social services and police.
To participate in the on-call weekend & bank holiday rota for CSA examinations.
To carry out Education Health & Care Plan assessments as needed.
Provide specialist paediatric advice for children with special needs and disability in the locality and to jointly manage the locality patch.
Together with the other community paediatricians plan, develop, monitor and evaluate the community paediatric services.
Work closely with the commissioners of community paediatric services to identify child health needs.
Share administrative and related tasks with the other paediatric colleagues.
Act with colleagues as the point of contact for the community paediatric medical service in the locality for GPs, other health professionals, and the Local Authority
To attend and participate in relevant meetings and committees.
To undertake administrative duties as required of the post that may be mutually agreed with the Chief Executive/CMO.
To help the trust by becoming an appraiser in the future.
