Join us in our training role within Talking Therapies to become a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner!

The post-holder will work within the Talking Therapies service providing high volume low intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post -- holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self- management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The post- holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within National Low Intensity curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities

Main duties of the job

*Assess and support people with a common mental health problem in the self-management of their recovery.

*Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, refers unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the person's treatment to high intensity psychological therapy.

*Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help, computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face to face, telephone or via other media.

*Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary.

*Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

*Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making.

*Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

*Attend and complete work required by the University

*Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity

About us

We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. Qualifications

Essential

  • Evidence of ability to study successfully at undergraduate year 1 level or the equivalent.
  • Year 1 Undergraduate Foundation level or equivalent or NVQ level 4 in relevant subject.

Desirable

  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a psychological therapy.
  • Psychology or other health related undergraduate degree.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem

Desirable

  • Experience of working in Primary Care Services
  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
  • Experience of using different methods of delivering treatment (for example telephone work, workshops, face to face, online).

Additional Criteria

  • Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills
  • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Able to write clear reports and letters.
  • Able to integrate training into practice
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
  • Understanding and ability to complete academic components of relevant courses.
  • An understanding of the principles of equal opportunities as it relates to staff and patients and able to demonstrate personal commitment to challenging discrimination and promoting equalities An understanding of equality within the workforce and how it can impact on this post.
  • Is able to work legally in the UK
  • Is able to work with children and vulnerable adults
  • Ability to travel daily for meetings across a range of sites in Southampton/Portsmouth/Hampshire.
