Job summary
We are delighted to have funding for a further 12 months for the Children's Long Covid Service & are extending this to include ME/Chronic Fatigue syndrome. As a new service established in June 2021, we have been able to show through outcomes that receiving support from this MDT service has made a real difference to the children & young people suffering with Long Covid.
Hampshire & IOW Childrens Long Covid Pathway offers physical, functional, cognitive & psychological assessments with the aim of improving health outcomes & quality of life for individuals who continue to experience persistent fatigue symptoms. This service is for children/young people aged 18 years or younger. Funding has been extended for a further 12 months and we are able to offer 4 days of Occupational Therapy at band 6 and 7 . This post is for 2 days at band 6 PER MONTH. This can be as additional hours or as part of a secondment role (we have funding to backfill hours).
The service is offered mainly through virtual consultations with occasional face to face appointments indicated & occasionally may involve travel within the locality.

Main duties of the job
The position will provide specialist Occupational therapy intervention for Children/Young people with Long Covid Syndrome and may extend to also those suffering from Chronic Fatigue. This will include specialist interventions to address fatigue, chronic pain, brain fog and cognitive difficulties and generalist advice for sleep disorders and health lifestyle choices. Support to the wider Integrated Care System through liaison and teaching to local services, including therapy teams and education settings.
About us
We have been working with other local NHS Trusts to create a new organisation, bringing together all community, mental health and learning disability services from across Hampshire and Isle of Wight. Subject to approvals, the aim is for the new Trust to be formed by July 2024.Project Fusion is the name for the programme to create the new combined NHS Foundation Trust. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust will be bringing the services into a single organisation will result in more consistent care, more equitable access to services irrespective of postcode, and a more sustainable workforce and services. The new organisation will operate locally to ensure services can best meet the needs of different communities.The new Trust will be comprised of all the services currently provided by Solent NHS Trust and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, the community, mental health and learning disability services provided by Isle of Wight NHS Trust and child and adolescent mental health services delivered in parts of Hampshire by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.Colleagues will transfer to the new organisation under Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) -- known as TUPE on 1st July 2024. TUPE is a legal process to ensure you transfer out of one organisation and into another, maintaining the terms and conditions of your employment.
