The Estate Maintenance Department is responsible for operating and maintaining healthcare buildings and services to a safe and compliant level for use by patients, visitors and staff. This also reflects the expectation to innovate and minimise energy wastage where opportunity presents and deliver on national and industry centred Net Zero Carbon commitments.
The role will be focused on the Hard FM aspects of engineering services maintenance, specialising in either mechanical or electrical technical disciplines with robust allied competencies.
The maintenance service aligns with the principles of the Estates Strategy and the wider facilities management team and works seamlessly with the Premise Management Team, Estates Projects and Asset Management Team.
We are looking for a confident, good communicator who is able to work in pubic facing spaces.
Main duties of the job
To perform highly sensitive maintenance and engineering infrastructure work activity of a complex and/or non-routine nature. Responsible for high acuity technical fault finding, diagnostic assessment and repair, commissioning testing with calibration across a wide range of engineering plant, infrastructure services and equipment e.g. electrical supply and distribution networks, lighting, fire detection, building control and system automation, standby power generator plant, security access control, nurse call systems and lifts, large-scale heating, hot and cold water and specialised ventilation.
Undertaking maintenance, invasive fault-finding and repairs, minor improvement schemes, and capital work encompassing infrastructure and utility analysis. Support the Trust in delivering Net Carbon Zero related projects as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures. Assist Estate Officers to prepare, publish and deliver business plans, life cycle replacement schemes and review planned maintenance procedures and generally supporting the wider organisation.
The role will enhance the highly technical competency of the maintenance and infrastructure operation and fault-finding skillset, allowing the service to operate at an elevated holistic multi-discipline level supporting a 'first time right' culture. The role will provide a unique source of system knowledge and analytical application, whilst providing mentoring support to developing team members.
