You will be responsible for the delivery of the Trusts strategic and operational approach to energy management across the estate for the new Sustainability Team, set up to ensure the Trust meets its obligations to achieve Net Carbon Zero by 2040.

The team is responsible for implementing organisational changes to ensure all service lines reduce their carbon emissions, through improving patient care. Your role will be to work in close partnership with Trust colleagues, commercial partners and service providers to identify and implement opportunities to reduce emissions, energy consumption and cost.

You will hold a recognised Mechanical or Electrical Engineering apprenticeship to City & Guilds level or equivalent scientific, technical or engineering qualification and have a current full UK driving licence.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for delivery of the Trusts strategic and operational approach to energy management across the Trust estate.

Working in close partnership with Trust colleagues, commercial partners and service providers, the post holder will identify and implement opportunities to reduce emissions, energy consumption and cost.

Actively monitor and manage energy consumption throughout the Trust. This will involve investigating, implementing, and reviewing energy conservation measures, ensuring value for money.

A key feature of this role will be to reduce consumption without affecting performance.

To ensure compliance with all current and emerging energy and environmental legislation and NHS guidance.

Develop the Estates Energy Strategy

On-going review and implementation of relevant policies and practices related to energy and water

Contribute to the Decarbonisation Strategy for Trust sites working closely with Estates Maintenance and Estates Projects colleagues

Lead the development and maintenance of quality performance reporting systems which support compliance and proactive management of government schemes in relation to Estates energy management and compliance.

Utilise the Building Management System (BMS) effectively and act as the Trust's lead specialist.

Provide information to assist with completion of annual ERIC returns and quarterly returns to the Greener NHS.

Assist in the development and maintenance of Sustainability Policies and Energy Procedures.
