Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated to join our friendly and experienced Special School Nursing Team. We provide Specialist School Nursing to nine Special Schools across the Southampton, Hampshire, IOW and Portsmouth and we are looking to recruit a Special School Nurse to work across St Francis and Rachel Madocks schools.
The schools we work with provide education to children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and complex health conditions. The Special School Nursing team works collaboratively with children, families, school staff and the wider multi-disciplinary team within the education setting to ensure a supportive and caring learning environment. The nursing team are responsible for ensuring the health needs of the children are met using a family centred approach to assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the health needs of the children within a specialist education provision. The role will include teaching and training of school staff, creating care plans and supervision of delegated skills including children and young people with a range of complex care, epilepsy and seizure management, enteral feeding, and tracheostomy.
The candidate must hold either a registration as a Children's or Learning Disability Nurse with recent experience of working with children and people with learning disabilities. Previous experience of special school nursing would be desirable.
