Programme Coordinator - Early Language Support for Every Child (ELSEC)

Job summary

The ELSEC programme coordinator's main purpose is to provide administrative programme coordination to the overall ELSEC team. This is a 2 year post, which has been funded by NHS England and the Department for Education.

This role is a core part of the programme team and will provide much needed support to ensure the safe and effective delivery of the pilot programme, in accordance with NHS England / Department for Education requirements. You will provide administrative support and data management for all aspects of the pilot programme, as an integrated member of the programme team, co-ordinating the operational delivery, evaluation and reporting of the programme.

You will be expected to work independently and to use initiative to support the development of this new service, recommending solutions to challenges as they arise. This is an opportunity to be involved in a transformational national pilot study.

The ELSEC project has been established to achieve the following aims:

  • Improve early identification and support for Children and Young People with Speech, Language and Communication Needs
  • Reduce the rate of specialist referrals.
  • Increase workforce capacity.
  • Improve quality of data and evidence.
  • Improve join up between health and education.

We have 2 part time opportunities.

  • Post 1 will work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
  • Post 2 will work Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Please note we require the service to be covered 5 days per week so both post holders cannot have leave at the same time.

Main duties of the job

  • Management of a range of complex and competing priorities requiring effective prioritisation
  • Assist the ELSEC Programme manager in all operational duties in the delivery of the ELSEC programme.
  • Proactively managing all aspects of meetings, event arrangement and diary management (maintaining multiple diaries) ensuring that the Programme Manager's time is used effectively.
  • Co-ordinate all aspects of the programme according to the project, ensuring that the team are enabled to deliver objectives to timescales and in accordance with the NHS England / Department for Education requirements.
  • Minute taking of project meetings, collating, and tracking actions to ensure they are executed within designated timescales.
  • Interrogating and collating monthly data and statistics, using Business Intelligence tools, for reporting purposes as required by the ELSEC Programme Manager.
  • Drafting responses or papers or ensuring draft responses are in place and quality assured to meet the identified deadlines.
  • Ensuring the Programme Manager is properly briefed and prepared for the work programme and meetings ahead.
  • Assisting in the preparation of internal and external reports and summarising reports where necessary.
  • Using considerable judgement and experience in dealing with queries on behalf of the Programme Manager.
  • Being the first point of contact for all internal and external inquiries for the Programme Manager and the wider ELSEC Team
