Job summary
Our team needs a specialist speech and language therapist, we would welcome interest from therapists who can independently manage a dysphagia caseload and work with children with severe and profound learning difficulties, their families and specialist educational environments.
We have an integrated model of care across Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Podiatry working together to provide holistic model of care keeping children and their families at the centre of what we do, making a positive change in the lives of children with complex needs and their families.
Our team of experts offer shadowing, coaching and mentoring and with external training opportunities you can develop your skills and knowledge of evidence based practice in dysphagia, neurodisability, sensory impairments and AAC.
We can support you to develop your Clinical and Leadership skills by offering:

Main duties of the job
*To be an autonomous practitioner, professionally and legally responsible for all aspects of your work including the assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and discharge of a caseload of children with dysphagia and complex communication needs
*To take part in our extensive offer of clinical supervision, mentoring, training, clinical leadership and development
*To participate in service development through co production with stakeholders and patients
*To work with special schools settings and with children with PMLD and severe learning difficulties
*To be competent in the management of children with feeding and swallowing difficulties, in line with Communicating Quality 3 and the Trust's Dysphagia Policy
*To work as part of an fully integrated team of highly specialist professional
*To escalate challenges and difficulties with the clinical leaders, professional lead and operational leads as required
*To deliver a safe and effective service in line with governance and quality expectations
*To act as a clinical leader and work with others to find the best way to meet children and young peoples needs
*To work with children with complex needs from 0-19 inline with our service specification
*To provide evidence based interventions and advice to children and families
*To develop clinical skills and progress towards operating as a clinical expert
