Job summary
We are very pleased to announce the Portsmouth CAMHS Specialist Trauma and Relational Therapies Team have a vacancy for a senior Occupational Therapist.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead with the management of complex trauma cases and support other CAMHS-STaRT workers with an OT perspective to prevent deterioration in mental health, placement breakdowns and supporting care leavers in striving towards independence. Part of this role will be assisting in training the professional network, including the delivery of the Trauma Informed Model of Care programme, Forming Good Attachments training, Caring for Your Traumatised Child and other training deemed appropriate, as needs emerge. Also the successful candidate will be actively involved in the designing and delivery of therapeutic groups, such as Therapeutic Carers Group and Fast Feet Forward, as well as actively contribute to team development on a routine basis.
Main duties of the job
Assess patients, plan, develop, implement, evaluate treatment programmes, with an OT perspective, in partnership with the network around the child.
To use relevant evidence based frameworks of reference e.g., Sensory Integration, Occupational Performance, restorative, cognitive behavioural, play therapy, behavioural, systemic, and child development.
Work in partnership with clients and carers to enable them to make informed choices about care and treatment, providing advise based upon OT evidenced based practice and clinical OT assessments.
Ensures use of knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate health needs as well as actively promote health and wellbeing.
