Job summary
We are looking for a qualified Occupational Therapist to work with young people and their families to support recovery from eating disorders. This will include increasing independent living skills, managing mealtimes, regulating emotions, body image improvement and relapse prevention. They will work with the team in delivering family based treatment for eating disorders. They should be able to assess the young person's sensory needs and recommend changes to their environment on the basis of this. We would also welcome an ability to offer group treatments focused on reengaging the young person in their community and integrating their values in to every day life.
The CAMHS eating disorder team started work in April 2021. It is working toward QNCC accreditation. Team members have won awards at the two most recent Solent Trust award events. The team is successful at offering family based work and involving young people and their families in how the service is shaped.
This post could be offered at a lower banding if the candidate was less experienced. A career progression path could be offered to support development including sensory integration training.
Main duties of the job
- Accountable for direct delivery of the OT service within the specialty (implementation of local & national policies, procedures & the evaluation of service delivery)
- Critically analyse complex patient situations & clinical data to inform decision making, to offer best physical & emotional support to the patient & their families/carers
- Provide OT Assessment & discharge planning including access visits
- Work in partnership with patients/carers & service users; provide specialist, evidence-based OT interventions to a caseload of clients ensuring good clinical outcomes. Required to work with the client to assess their needs using specialist tools & identify goals for the OT intervention, to evaluate the outcome & maintain patient records, paper & electronic. Advanced clinical reasoning, investigative & analytical skills as an autonomous practitioner are required
