Job summary
We are delighted to have funding for a further 12 months for the Children's Long Covid Service. As a new service established in June 2021, we have been able to show throughout outcome measures that receiving support from this MDT service has made a real difference to the children & young people suffering with Long Covid. We have an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team Children's Long Covid Service, which includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists & Paediatrician Colleagues working across Solent NHS Trust & University Hospital Southampton Trust. This post can be completed virtually, with MDT meetings, consultations, supervision & training online. The case load is predominantly adolescents.
Throughout the Covid 19 pandemic it has become increasing evident that a small number of children & young people have contracted Covid-19 & are suffering with Long Covid. The main symptoms being fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, pain & breathing issues.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Children's Long Covid Pathway has been set up to offer physical, functional, cognitive & psychological assessments with the aim of improving health outcomes & quality of life for those individuals who continue to experience persistent symptoms 12 weeks from initial illness. Hours worked can be as additional hours or as part of a secondment role (we have funding to backfill your hours).
Main duties of the job
*Triaging referrals to the Post Covid Syndrome Pathway, discussing these with the MDT to ensure all clients receive intervention from the most appropriate services.
*Assessing patients through primarily virtual means independently, making autonomous decisions in the clinical assessment of patients with complex health and social care needs. Some face to face consultations maybe required and requiring travel to sites across Hampshire.
*Agreeing goal orientated programmes in conjunction with the client, his/her family and other professionals involved and planning and implementing appropriate intervention.
*Provide high quality specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy interventions.
*Deliver evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for users with mild to severe mental health problems.
*Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for children and young people.
*Adhere to the recommended number of clinical contacts offered (unless sound clinical reason for not doing so and agreed with clinical supervisor).
*Deliver interactive psycho-education within a CBT framework to individual users and groups of Service users.
*Liaising with other health care professionals, making referrals, making recommendations where necessary to reduce the effect of disability on health and wellbeing.
*To carry a caseload of patients as an autonomous practitioner, including those with highly complex presentations, using advanced clinical reasoning skills.
