Job summary
We are looking for experienced, motivated, and enthusiastic physiotherapists to join our B8 Specialist Musculoskeletal teams within our spinal pathway.
Referrals into the Specialist MSK service are from MSK physiotherapy, FCP, GP or self-referral. The caseload comprises complex patients with musculoskeletal pain, or those who have not responded to primary care intervention. Clinical reasoning, investigative and analytical skills are required to ensure the appropriate medical investigation are undertaken, and to facilitate decision making regarding the most appropriate management options.
Within Solent CPD and mentorship is integral to effective service delivery and the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists/Podiatrists have quarterly workshops/peer support /injection training as well as a role actively supporting more junior colleges within the primary care Physiotherapy service. Our integrated pathways afford opportunities to offer teaching within the wider Solent MPP team and to GP's. The MSK service now also has 2 AHP Consultants who will offer support and mentorship as well as a driving force for service development. The Specialist teams are key to shaping our service and are actively involved in Governance, clinical effectiveness, research, and supported Quality Improvement projects.
Main duties of the job
To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.To undertake specialist assessment, interpret the relevant clinical findings of complex patients with musculoskeletal pain or those who have not responded to primary care interventions.To make decisions, using investigative, clinical reasoning and analytical skills regarding the appropriate medical investigation of choice and implementation of such including injections.To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support and facilitate more junior staff to do likewise, using evidence based practices and evaluate outcomes.Provide timely advice over the management of all patients entering the care pathway.To advise GP's, patients, families, employers and Physiotherapists on best management.To be responsible for the setting and monitoring of standards and policies of clinical practice physiotherapy service referring patients to the specialist pathways.To keep accurate, legible records of patient care in line with Trust and service guidelines, being responsible for all physiotherapy records held by the Specialist service, using audit tools when appropriate.
