Mental Health Practitioner - CAMHS
This job is now closed
Job summary
The Building Resilience and Strengths (BRS) team has an exciting opportunity opening for the role of a Senior Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner in our Crisis Intervention Pathway. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary integrated CAMHS team, delivering high quality interventions to children, young people and their families presenting with a range of psychological difficulties and complex life experiences.
The BRS is joint funded by Solent NHS and Southampton City Council Children's Services. Staff are employed through each agency but work together as one team under a single management structure and service specification. Following the Southampton City Council's Destination 22 transformation, the service will deliver both a Crisis Intervention service and a Therapeutic service, with dedicated multi-disciplinary staff in each pathway. The role of the Senior Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner will be primarily based within the Crisis Intervention pathway but close working relationships with professionals from the Therapeutic pathway will allow for robust transition plans between the pathways as required.
Main duties of the job
As the Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner you will work closely with Specialist CAMHS and a range of professionals across Health, Education and Social Care. The role will require the post holder to have a sound knowledge of Crisis intervention work with young people and strong risk assessment and risk management skills.
The role will require a flexible approach and, as part of the Crisis Intervention pathway, there is likely to be a regularly changing clinical landscape. The successful candidate will also be confident in managing a complex caseload; able to respond quickly to challenging situations; and able to manage complex mental health and safeguarding issues with management support.
The Team will operate on a long day model including weekends, which will be supported by a Clinical Lead Nurse and Practice Manager, providing leadership, support and supervision to the post holder.
For further information or an informal discussion please contact Vickie Doney, Lead Clinician, or Amie McKinlay, Practice Manager.
