Job summary

We're looking for an experienced registered professional to join our Safeguarding Team!

You will need to have current professional registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Social Worker England, or Health and Care Professions Council.

Solent NHS Trust view safeguarding to be Everyone's Responsibility and advocates a Think Family approach to safeguarding. The role of the Safeguarding Team is to facilitate good practice in prevention, identification, actioning, and management of safeguarding children and adults at risk cases, when actual or suspected harm has occurred. We offer advice, support, and training to our frontline practitioners. The team provide and support the Trusts safeguarding supervision requirements including supporting staff in restorative and reflective practice.

The Solent NHS Trust safeguarding team is part of the Chief Nurse Directorate and is responsible for supporting the Trust to fulfil its statutory and contractual safeguarding requirements. The team comprises of the Head of Safeguarding and Named Nurse for children, Named Professional for adults, specialist safeguarding practitioners and facilitators and administrative support.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will

Support the development and delivery of high-quality safeguarding practice across the range of services provided by Solent NHS Trust.

Assist the Safeguarding team in co-ordinating the Trusts multi-disciplinary response to all safeguarding cases, escalating where appropriate and ensuring decisions and interventions are appropriate and timely.

Manage confidential information, providing and receiving complex information within the Safeguarding arena.

Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records in accordance with professional bodies.

Maintain good working relationships and communication.

Contribute to single or multi-agency chronologies as appropriate under the direction of the Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults.

Prioritise and manage a varied workload and work autonomously.

Have a sound knowledge of the legislation, guidelines, recent reports and research in relation to safeguarding and to be fully cognisant of LSAB and LSCP and Solent Safeguarding policies and procedures.

Facilitate reflection and feedback on cases as appropriate, upskilling staff and enabling staff to learn lessons to further develop skills and knowledge in the best interests of patients.

Support the safeguarding team in carrying out their duties and responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children, as appropriate and required.

To prioritise and manage a wide and varied workload and to work autonomously, prioritising, organising, and planning own workload to meet the needs of the organisation.

To assist the Named Professional for Safeguarding Adults and Named Nurses for Safeguarding Children, disseminating and facilitating changes in clinical practice, in line with changes in legislation, local and national polices and evidence-based practice.

To collate and monitor statistics, participating in relevant audit activity across the Trust.

To support encourage and facilitate practitioners and others to undertake research activities to promote evidence-based practice.

To have a sound knowledge of the legislation, guidelines, recent reports, and research in relation to safeguarding.
