Job summary
We are looking to recruit a receptionist for our busy GP surgery in central Southampton.
Hours 7.45am till 3.45pm and/or 10.30am till 6.30pm
Location to work across our three sites: Nicholstown GP Surgery, Portswood GP Surgery & Adelaide GP Surgery
You will be working as part of a busy team where you will be the first point of contact for all enquiries. You will be answering the phone to patients, professionals and clinicians and will be a key link within the team. The duties are many and varied and include answering the telephone, covering reception, booking appointments, sorting mail and using Systm1 (an electronic patient record).The role requires a high level of inter-personal skills and personal confidence.
Having a respectful and empathetic attitude will be essential, with the capacity to manage sensitive, and confidential information. We are looking for people who have a 'can do' attitude.
Main duties of the job
- Use and populate the electronic record system for clinical records (Systm1) or other service systems with accurate information
- Triage patients and generate a correct care pathway for them
- Follow a detailed script ensuring patient requirements are met
- Follow agreed processes for dealing with emails on Outlook and nhs.net, on a daily basis prioritising both urgency and importance, taking responsibility for signposting or dealing with queries regarding issues arising
- Monitor and action emails coming into generic email accounts as required
- Photocopying, scanning and electronic filing accurately and securely
