Job summary

Solent CAMHS are thrilled to be able to offer an exciting new role.

We recognise the value yoga practice can bring to children, young people, and their families who experience a range of mental health needs. In this post, a well-qualified, experienced and passionate yoga teacher with knowledge of the history, philosophy, and ethics of yoga will work as a core member of the CAMHS team, designing and delivering yoga techniques that are suitable for young people aged 5 -- 18 who experience a range of mental health needs. They may also offer yoga sessions to families. They will be responsible for delivering this intervention as a complimentary intervention which sits alongside other evidence-based practices in the service.

The postholder will be able to design and implement changes to practice. Designing yoga groups specific to differing mental health presentations and evidencing their effectiveness with evidence-based outcome measures. The post holder will have the skills to lead on the service audit and evaluation of yoga practice within the CAMH Services; evidencing outcomes for children and young people and its contribution to the holistic care and intervention the service offers. The post holder will be expected to liaise with other organisations and professionals to promote communication and good practice and educate on the value of yoga in the treatment and management of mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

*To attend Core Group meetings and Team Around the Child meetings and other relevant meetings as required.

*To work or sit in constraint positions for substantial periods of time to complete clinical administration work, service evaluation and/or audit of practice.

*To ensure children, young people and their carers/significant others are included in planning, implementation and evaluation of care.

*To ensure care is delivered in a person-centred manner ensuring the gender, ethnic cultural and spiritual needs of service users inform practice.

*To operate within the guidance and Code of Ethics of the relevant professional body

*To act in accordance with legal requirements contained within the Mental Health Act 1983, the Children's Act 1994 and other legislation

*To have knowledge of and act in accordance with Southampton City Safeguarding Children's Board.

*To participate in regular supervision systems and the Individual Appraisal Review and Continuing Professional Development.

*To ensure that care is delivered to incorporate health and social care policy.

*To be aware of and up to date with advances in research practice and development of interventions for mental health disorders and emerging mental health in children and young people.

Communication

*To compliment the work of other members of the multi-disciplinary team by undertaking as co-worker specific therapeutic work with children / families as part of agreed treatment programmes consistent with own skills, knowledge and scope of practice.

*To manage and prioritise own workload, competing demands and clinical commitments with support from line manager as required.

*To participate in clinical supervision, ensuring supervision received is appropriate to the therapeutic work being undertaken and is in line with guidelines.

*To liaise and joint work with colleagues, other professionals and agencies as required in relation to both clinical work and the wider agenda of working in partnership within a multi-agency framework.

*To participate in team clinical meetings in order to share expertise, promote good practice and the safety of clients.

*To participate in referrals meeting as required. Making clinical decisions as part of this group regarding the appropriateness of new referrals in line with referral criteria. Assessing the level of clinical need for referrals accepted and communicating outcomes to referrers.

*Undertake clinical work, training and personal development to maintain and develop clinical and leadership skills.
