The role of Senior Mental Health Practitioner within the Single Point of Access team is predominantly a clinical role in which the successful candidate will be responsible for offering further therapeutic assessment, as a senior clinician their case load of assessment will be of clients accessing the service with complex needs including enduring mental health difficulties. A key aspect to this role will be to support the consistent delivery of urgent appointments (within 72 hours) for new client referrals where there is clinical urgency. In addition to clinical work the post holder will be responsible for supporting staff development within the Solent CAMHS, this will be through multiple platforms including delivery/ facilitation of training, clinical supervision of others and clinical oversight of shadowing opportunities for students and trainees.

Solent CAMHs is a specialist mental health service that works alongside children aged 0-18 and their families to address their mental health needs and improve their day to day lives. We are based in the vibrant and dynamic city of Portsmouth which is situated on the South coast of England. The service serves a socially and economically diverse population. Main duties of the job

*Assess patients/clients, plan develop/implement/evaluate treatment programmes in partnership with the network around the child.

*Work in partnership with clients and carers to enable them to make informed choices about care and treatment.

*Ensures use of knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate health needs as well as actively promote health and wellbeing.

*Evaluate clinical outcomes and report variance to clinical pathway, protocols, or best practice guidelines.

*Contributes to effective discharge planning and/or referral processes to health care providers and support agencies to meet identified health needs.

*Applies diagnostic reasoning and professional judgement to practice issues/decisions.

*Manage care of patients/clients on a day to day basis and when required manage care of all patients/clients in the absence of senior colleagues.

*Uses professional curiosity amongst colleagues to advance practice and patient/client care to ensure the provision of positive patient/client outcomes and person-centred care.

*Accurately document assessments of patients/clients' health status, diagnosis and response to interventions and treatments on the Trust Clinical Records System.

*Effectively manage the clinical care through the implementation of clearly defined policies and procedures

*The successful candidate will be responsible for continued staff development within Portsmouth CAMHS. This will include organising and facilitating whole service target sessions, co-ordinating clinical supervision and clinical oversight of training and shadowing opportunities in the Portsmouth CAMHS service.

*To take an active role in the development of DBT pathways within Solent CAMHS, reporting to Solent CAMHS consultant practitioner. This will include co-ordination and facilitation of DBT skills intervention within the Single Point of Access team.
