Job summary
Pathology is the department that studies and understands how illness and diseases develop and the impact they have on people. Across University Hospital Birmingham's (UHB) the pathology laboratories support patient care through diagnosis, treatment and research through their well respected and accredited laboratories.
Our administrative and clerical teams are essential to the smooth running of the laboratories, and the Cellular Pathology department are seeking MDT coordinators to join their team. In this role, you will organise slides and reports for MDT meetings alongside general administrative duties, working closely with colleagues and the office manager to have a positive impact on patient care.
Although the role will be site specific to work at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, there may occasionally be a requirement to work cross-site at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. As part of this team, you will be a reliable and committed team member who represents out Trust values of Kind, Connected and Bold. Previous administrative experience is essential, along with strong organisational and communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.
The role requires efficient and flexible team working to meet service demands. Good communication skills and the ability to effectively prioritise own workload is essential.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and required to handle sensitive data, at times working under pressure whilst dealing with people on all levels. Good keyboard skills are essential.
Duties include;
*Co-ordinating Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings (MDTs).
*Logistical planning the transportation of diagnostic material to external Trusts and
organisations.
*Receipt and booking in of diagnostic material (wax blocks and glass slides) sent for
reporting and expert opinion.
*Dealing with telephone and email queries.
*General administrative duties.
