To cover maternity Leave we are looking to appoint a self-motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic Community Midwife Team Leader for 12 months.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the community leaders who cover Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals.

Our community team care for a diverse group of women and families providing high quality midwifery care. The community midwife teams work in a named midwife model in GP practices, Children's centres and at home. The service is led by the Community Matron and each team compromises of the Team Leader, Community Midwives, Maternity Support Workers and Community Administrators. Appointed applicants will be well supported and offered a personalised orientation on appointment.

Our midwives work a varied range of shift patterns which includes weekends, bank holidays and an on call rota system to support women who choose to labour at home and the Birth Centre.

Main duties of the job

Ability to provide clinical and professional leadership and maintain a high profile in the clinical area and be accessible to all staff.

To ensure that midwifery practice is of an appropriate standard for each individual woman for whom we provide care

Liaise closely with other members of the primary care team, including health visitors and GPs.

Ensure all communication is presented appropriately to the different recipients, according to levels of understanding, type of communication being imparted and possible barriers such as language, culture, understanding or physical or mental health conditions

Be willing to participate in audits or clinical trials with the aim of improving midwifery practice.

Participate in the 24 hour on call rota, to attend home births, work within the birth centre and escalation into inpatient areas as necessary.

Support the Community Matron to ensure the smooth running of the service, deputising as required.

Attend departmental meetings to ensure effective service provision/delivery and staff engagement

Audit and evaluate the quality of midwifery care and be willing to participate in audits or clinical trials with the aim of improving midwifery practice.

Attend PMRT reviews and ensure recommendations and service improvements are actioned and implemented.

Participate in the development and implementation of the standards required for the Directorate to promote CQC standards.
