Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and dynamic individual with an appropriate level of knowledge and skills to join the Pharmacy team, leading on Neurology at UHB. The post holder will also work closely with the other Lead Pharmacists and the pharmacy operational team on site to ensure day to day provision of the clinical pharmacy service to general wards.
The post holder will lead and coordinate the development, delivery & evaluation of neurology and will further develop, deliver and evaluate the service to support the medicines optimisation agenda.
As part of the leadership team you may be requested to work cross-site with the other lead pharmacists in the team.
The Trust has close links with local universities and you will be involved with supporting the undergraduate pharmacy teaching. You will also contribute to the delivery of formal and informal education and development programmes, including the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, and our rotational programme for band 6 and 7 clinical pharmacists.
As part of this job, you will be expected to work as part of a wider team, but also independently and must possess effective influencing and negotiating skills.
Main duties of the job
1.To provide clinical specialist input (at specialist level) to the neurology service
2.Act as a role model to Pharmacists working in this speciality.
3.Demonstrate expert knowledge in the clinical speciality, delivering a service in accordance with the priorities set by the Chief Pharmacist and the Trust agreed standards.
4.Appropriately manage difficult and ambiguous problems.
5.Make decisions with limited information.
6.Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement.
7.Demonstrate an intuitive grasp of situations.
8.Ensure the clinical services provided are of a high standard and that all prescribed medication is clinically screened in a timely manner. Provide daily clinical pharmacy services to the neurology wards.
9.Develop the clinical pharmacy service and lead other Pharmacists and Technicians to deliver a high standard of pharmaceutical care.
10.Monitor and evaluate the clinical pharmacy service provided and provide feedback to team members.
11.Ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs in these patients.
12.Identify the potential impact of future developments on clinical services and adopt a proactive approach to forward planning.
13.Deliver the clinical governance agenda working with senior medical and nursing colleagues.
14.Lead and assist others with clinical audit work on prescribing standards, activity and practice.
