Would you like to join our dynamic team at the Centre for Clinical Haematology?

We deliver outpatient Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), supportive therapy, and Autologous Stem Cell transplants to patients from all over the Midlands. We offer treatment and support to teenagers and adults with a wide range of haematology disorders.

We are constantly striving to give our patients the best care and require motivated and hardworking individuals to join our team. The successful candidate should be willing to learn new skills and will be fully supported to undergo specialist training.

We are looking for healthcare assistants, with a passion for looking after haematology patients.

The unit is made up of day case chairs and trolleys, as well as a busy outpatient clinic. You will be expected to work shifts from Monday- Friday between the hours of 8am-7pm.

Main duties of the job

We care for patients throughout their treatment pathway, undergoing diagnostic, curative and palliative procedures including the management of symptoms related to their treatments or their disease process.

We administer Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapies and supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families through their treatment journey. Your role will be varied and you will be able to gain clinical skills such as ECGs, venepuncture and venesections.

The successful candidate should be willing to learn new skills, be hardworking, motivated and enthusiastic.

Qualifications

Essential

* Evidence of Maths/English qualifications at Level 2 or above.
* Completion of a competency-based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification at Level 3 i.e. For level 3 this could include AS/ A levels, Access to higher
Education Diploma in health care support, Apprenticeships, NVQ Level 3, BTEC national Diploma award or nationals.
* Care Certificate or can demonstrate prior skills, knowledge and experience that meet the 15 minimum standards described by Health Education England (HEE) Skills for Health.
* Internationally educated applicants will have to evidence UK ENIC (the UK National Information Centre) Statements of compatibility

* Previous experience working in a patient facing clinical support worker role providing direct patient care in health or social care as part of a team.
* Understanding of the principles of safeguarding in relation to this role

different to that of a Band 2 Clinical Support worker.
* Can link the Trust values (Kind, Connected & Bold) to the role and provide examples from personal experience which demonstrate understanding in relation to the role
