We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Research nurse post, working with REACT (Research in Emergency and Acute Care Team)

REACT has 1 substantive post, they deliver research across the acute care specialities, this includes Critical Care, Trauma and Stroke. The portfolio delivers studies that includes CTIMPs, medical device trials and observation studies, often recruiting patients within tight time frames following an injury. You will need to act as an advocate for many of the patients as they often lack capacity due to their injuries or illness.

You will gain experience in supporting and leading on the delivery of specialized, patient, and protocol driven care in partnership with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team. You will ensure that patient care is delivered according to best practice, Trust policies and Good Clinical Practice.

To be successful in these roles you will need to be a level 1 Registered Nurse, with experience at in an acute care setting. Applicants need to demonstrate a willingness to train for extended roles which include venepuncture, cannulation and administration of biologics. Main Duties

As a Band 6 research nurse you will be required to develop an in-depth knowledge of the research processes and research delivery, all in line with the Good Clinical Practice principles and adhere to the legal and ethical legislations. You will be expected to adhere to research trial protocols and deliver in accordance with these. Adherence to events schedules and their strict timelines is essential.

You will be working with patients and communicating with them, their relatives and the wider clinical team regarding the involvement in trials. It is essential that you are a good communicator and can act as a patient advocate for those who are unable to make decisions for themselves at times.

You will also need to have the ability to manage time commitments well and show great prioritisation skills. Whilst engaging within the main team, autonomous and self-directed work is an essential part of this role.
