Job summary
The Deputy Housekeeping Services Manager is responsible for working with the Housekeeping Team Leaders to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained as well as deputising for the Facilities Manager when required. As Deputy Housekeeping Manager, the post holder will be encouraged to voice their ideas to enhance and / or improve processes and procedures that could bring efficiencies to the in-house cleaning services. They will also need a passion for ensuring high standings of cleanliness are maintained throughout Good hope Hospital, and be prepared to roll their sleeves up as well as lead by example.
The post holder is responsible for working with the Facilities Services Manager to ensure all aspects of the cleaning service are compliant with statutory requirements; working closely with the other facilities staff and managers to achieve standardisation of Housekeeping working practices, protocols and procedures.
The Housekeeping Service is a 24 hour, 7-day a week service and, as such, the post-holder is expected to work with the supervisors to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place in order that the service is effectively provided at all times. This will mean attending site at any time over a 24 hour period for the purposes of briefing, training and generally supporting the supervision and management of staff out-of-hours.
Main duties of the job
*Work with Housekeeping Team Leaders to ensure job functions are completed with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
*Ensure systems and processes are in place to prioritise and organise tasks
*To support the monitoring of standards by undertaking personal monitoring and by organising the Team Leaders to carry out checks against Trust audits of the service provision and activity; driving through the delivery of quality standards and targets to continually improve performance within the service
*Provide professional support to the Clinical Site team and colleagues within the Divisions to help prioritise cleaning tasks that directly support patient flow
*Challenge existing practices; ensuring progressive solutions, that take into account models of best practice in environmental cleaning, are incorporated into the services
*Ensure Housekeeping services are provided seamlessly across the site throughout the day and night and as outlined in the annually approved area cleaning schedules
*Support the delivery of costed proposals to provide environmental cleaning services to support new business cases
*Work with the stores person to ensure supplies of Housekeeping equipment and cleaning materials needed for the effective cleaning of the environment are available when required, accounted for and managed appropriately
