Job summary
Are you looking for a challenge? We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovative band 3 generic therapy support worker to work within our therapy teams. This is a permanent post based at Good Hope Hospital. The post holder will work alongside the established therapy teams within the acute setting. A band 3 generic therapy support worker will be expected to undertake a number of duties with supervision from a registered physiotherapist or occupational therapist and be responsible for an agreed specific caseload. The post holder will be competent to work with occupational therapy and physiotherapy and make referrals to different agencies as required.
Applicants should have an interest in Older People and Medicine and have experience in the therapy treatment of these patient groups. Along with good clinical skills, interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
The role of the Generic Therapy Support Worker (TSW) is to support the delivery of Therapy Services to patients. The role will support a range of therapy professions, covering predominately Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists working within the relevant clinical area. The TSW will work under the supervision of Registered Therapists and will be responsible for an agreed specific caseload.
A small but not exhaustive list of duties:
* To be responsible for delegated aspects of clinical intervention, working without direct supervision and providing feedback to the Registered Therapist or Senior TSW regarding assessment of patient progress.
* With training and guidance, to complete a range of initial screening assessments and follow referral criteria.
* To independently conduct site visits to fit and deliver equipment and obtain necessary heights as requested by the qualified therapist.
* In negotiation with the registered therapist, to provide a range of therapeutic activities that instruct and guide the client to achieve personal goals e.g. activities of daily living, physical compensatory or rehabilitative activities, appropriate exercises, gait re-education and stairs assessments.
* To work alongside ward and therapy staff to support the Eat/Drink/ Dress and keep moving approach (EDDM).
* To be responsible for the safe use of equipment and aids for patients, observing a personal duty of care in relation to all resources, equipment and assets encountered in the course of the work.
