Job summary
Consultant Cardiologist in Advanced Heart Failure with special interest in Cardiac Imaging.
The appointee will be expected to join the multi-disciplinary Heart Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Support Service by delivering in- and out-patient care of patients with advanced heart failure, holistic continuing care post-heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. The appointee's sub-specialty interest in cardiac imaging will support weekly transplant MDTs and non-invasive surveillance for rejection and graft function. Holistic long-term post-heart transplant care will include transition care (from paediatric services), obstetric and reproductive health, bone health and cardiovascular risk management. The appointee will also be expected to support the Lung Transplant Programme as part of an MDT.
Main duties of the job
Key Skills:
*Experience in the assessment and management of patients with advanced heart failure for transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, including durable left ventricular assist devices.
*Post-operative care of heart transplant recipients (including management of immunosuppression therapy and related complications) and patients with mechanical circulatory support.
*Cardiac imaging, including cardiac MRI for assessment of advanced heart failure and post-heart transplant care.
