This exceptional opportunity represents our bold approach to transforming fragility fracture care at unprecedented scale. Managing the largest Fragility Fracture service in the UK and Europe with an average of 1,000 NOF cases annually, you'll work alongside 38 Consultant Orthopaedic colleagues where your expertise will shape national standards

Three Ortho-Geriatrician posts have been created, positioning you at the forefront of a service destined for national recognition

Your role extends beyond individual patient encounters, influencing clinical pathways and training programmes that will define the future of ortho-geriatric care. Based predominantly at Heartlands you'll lead multidisciplinary teams delivering excellence in, with established Quality Improvement programmes and a rich training environment, this position offers the platform to build a legacy of excellence within our team

Main duties of the job

Leading ortho-geriatric patients through their most vulnerable moments requires clinical insight that balances medical complexity with compassionate care. You'll champion evidence-based improvements that enhance recovery whilst reducing length of stay, working with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure trauma care decisions prioritise patient dignity and family confidence.

Your 10 PA structure, you'll provide ward-based support for the Fractured Neck of Femur Trauma unit, reviewing orthopaedic outliers and managing patients whilst developing specialist Fragility Clinics and our Fracture Liaison Service. Whilst we cannot get away from weekend working, we are able to ensure this is limited to 1 in 8 weekends

Your expertise in ortho-geriatrics and surgical liaison, combined with broad experience in geriatric medicine management, positions you to excel. With Full GMC registration, CCT in Geriatric Medicine, and your special interest in care of the elderly with fragility fractures, you bring the clinical foundation upon which our service excellence depends.

* Maintaining the highest clinical standards in the management of Orthogeriatric patients on the

trauma unit and other clinical areas, as required.

The job plan will consist of 10 PAs with sessions that will be ward based, supporting the Fractured Neck of

Femur Trauma unit at Heartlands and reviewing orthopaedic outliers, with medical management of patients

admitted to the trauma wards. There will also be a requirement to undertake outpatient sessions to provide

and develop the Fracture Liaison Service. It is expected that weekend working will occur with a 1 in 8

frequency.

The post-holder will be managerially accountable to the Clinical Service Lead for Trauma and Orthopaedics,

and professionally accountable to the Medical Director for CDG2. The successful candidate will be expected to

agree a formal job plan with the Clinical Service Lead
