Band 2 Part Time Evening Receptionist / Support Worker - Radiotherapy

The closing date is 20 August 2025

Job summary

Evening Receptionist / Support Worker -- Radiotherapy

The Radiotherapy service at QEHB, with circa 115 staff, provide approximately 4,500 new patients per year with world class radiotherapy treatments, the service is of the highest calibre and makes us one of the leading departments in the NHS.

Our receptionists / support workers provide a fantastic service to our patients and with a newly installed MRI Scanner and 8 -- 8 operating hours, we are looking to recruit 3 additional staff to provide reception and support worker support to the department.

This hybrid role includes providing care and support to our patients which will include personal care for those who need it, including assisting with toileting, manual handling, escorting patients around the department, answering their queries and liaising with ambulance services.

As a receptionist you will meet and greet patients, help book appointments, including clinics, and guide them around the department if needed. You will also contribute to the smooth running of the department and waiting areas by helping any staff that may need additional support.

This is a very active role, involving lifting, supporting patients, navigating around a large radiotherapy department which covers two floors, and handling medical equipment.

Our Receptionists / Support Workers are seen as pivotal in providing a warm welcome and a caring service to our patients and on-going support to our Radiographers.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for empathetic, compassionate, and caring people who will enjoy the support and care they will give our patients. You will be hands on, deal with stressed, poorly, tired, and vulnerable patients, who will look to you for kindness and support.

As a key member of the team, you will have an adaptable approach with the ability to prioritise an ever-changing workload, whilst maintaining a caring and helpful attitude. You will need to be computer literate as there is daily use of Trust IT systems. Administration and compliance are an integral part of your day so excellent attention to detail is a must, as is the willingness to actively support the wider team.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of working within a care capacity, reception experience would be beneficial but not essential as the training and support you receive will cover that aspect of the role.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 5pm -- 8pm, however finishing times may vary slightly. There may be flexibility to allow 4pm -- 8pm for one position.

To be successful in the role you will embrace our values of being KIND to our patients, relatives and colleagues, be CONNECTED by listening and responding, and be BOLD in your delivery of exceptional customer services.

In return you can expect to join a team who will be welcoming and supportive, who will train and develop you, and who will help you deliver the best possible care that we want for our patients
