Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Support Medical Secretary in the fast paced and busy Ear, Nose and Throat Department at the QE. We are looking for a flexible, highly motivated and well organised individual to join us.
Our friendly and approachable team provide a professional secretarial service to our acclaimed team of Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeons.
The successful candidate will be efficient, productive and be able to prioritise tasks. They will be proactive in solving problems and queries and you will see these through to completion. The post holder will need to be calm and patient with an excellent telephone manner, drawing upon communication and interpersonal skills in order to deal with sometimes complex and difficult issues over the phone. The post holder will be flexible in their approach and will work creatively to provide support in the most effective way.
Qualifications
Essential
*Good General Education (e.g. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
*Business Administration NVQ level 3, AMSPAR or equivalent experience in an administrative environment
Experience
Essential
*Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
*Experience of working with a range of IT systems and Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
Desirable
*Experience of working in a busy environment
*Experience of working in Healthcare
*Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations
Main duties of the job
Liaising with Team Leader daily and providing full secretarial support to our band 4 Senior Medical Secretarial Team. Processing of clinical letters, booking clinic appointments, checking follow up appointments and clinic outcomes. Adding patients to waiting list. Processing of clinical letters in relation to 2 Week Wait Clinics, Daily Emergency ENT Clinics, Nurse Led Clinics and Endoscope I Clinics
