An exciting new opportunity for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our busy Endoscopy team, based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
Our Endoscopy Service is purpose built to support elective outpatient and acute inpatient Endoscopic procedures, with facilities to undertake x-ray guided endoscopy.

The ideal candidate will have NMC registation, two years post registration Endoscopy experience, plus knowledge of JAG and BSG guidelines, alongside a high level of verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of quality improvement and principles of change management.
Main duties of the job
The successful candiddate will be expected to work in accordance with the NMC Code, the Trust's vision and values and our Behavioural Framework.
Your main responsibilities will be to work as one of the senior members of the nurse team alongside Staff Nurses, Nurse Associates, Healthcare Assistants, Endoscopists, Consultants and speciality nursing teams, delivering high level care to patients in all areas of the Unit. This requires a high level of technical capacility with a passion for problem solving. This can be a physically and mentally demanding role but is very rewarding for the right candidate.
Duties include:
Providing leadership support to colleagues
Ensure staffing levels and skill mix to ensure the safe delivery of care, and ensuring patient safety at all times.
To coordinate clinical activites, allocation of staff and the management of patient flow within the department.
Shift management responsibilities - to take direct managerial responisbility for the clinical area in the absence of, or as delegated by the Senior Endoscopy Sister.
Carry out appraisals and development reviews for team members
Managing sickness absence
Complaint management and incident reporting reviews
Completion of audits.
Participate in recruitment, selection and training of new staff
Participation and training in the 24 hour on call bleed rota
