During summer 2024, Solihull Hospital opened six new theatres -- these fantastic facilities have allowed us to create new Band 3 Therapy Support worker opportunities. These roles are spread across several sites including Solihull hospital, Solihull community, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Heartlands Hospital in East Birmingham. This advertised role is for Heartlands Hospital.
You will work collaboratively with Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists and fellow therapy support workers in an outpatient setting, supporting our patients in their rehabilitation and wellbeing following their elective surgery from Solihull's new elective hub.
You'll have excellent communication and organisational skills and be confident to make judgements unaided. You will be able to work proactively to problem solve and work on your own initiative. You will be working with patients 1:1 and in a group setting.
Main duties of the job
-To work within the MSK team to deliver rehabilitation to post op patients following their surgery within the Solihull Elective Hub
-To work as part of the team in delivering a 7 day service
-To assist in delivering physiotherapy treatment plans under the guidance of qualified physiotherapists
-To encourage and motivate patients to engage with their rehabilitation programmes
-To document patient notes and outcomes using the documentation format used within the department
-To be able to use the computer systems required for booking and outcoming appointments
-To maintain mandatory training and participate in ongoing training and development within the role
-To assist with equipment ordering, maintenance and infection control standards

Essential
- *Education to GCSE level or equivalent including English and maths
- *Able to demonstrate competence in maths and written and spoken English
- *Educated to A Level / NVQ 3/ BTEC or equivalent (e.g NVQ 2 or similar vocational qualification PLUS experience working in a care setting)
- *Care certificate or be willing to work towards this
Desirable
- *Evidence of recent education / personal development related to Healthcare.
Experience
Essential
- *Relevant therapy / health / social care experience
- *Experience of dealing with people
- *Experience of working in a team
- *Can demonstrate a broad understanding of relevant areas of therapy, the effect of illness/critical conditions / disability on function and health and basic aims of rehabilitation
