Band 2 Assistant Physiologist

Job summary

The Assistant Physiologist records a range of routine lung investigations, using a variety of technical equipment and computer software, on patients of all ages and from all areas of the hospital including the critically ill. The post holder will work towards a recognised qualification in spirometry measurement (ARTP/BTS Spirometry Certificate/Portfolio). The post holder shall be based in Respiratory Physiology performing basic Lung Function tests (spirometry). This job requires the post holder to perform lung function tests both simple and complex in nature, the post holder will be under the supervision of a senior member of staff to perform the complex tests

Main duties of the job

Perform basic lung function procedures in a variety of clinical settings

*Calibrate and quality control equipment required to perform basic lung function procedures

*Maintain accurate patient information systems

*Undertake administration duties e.g. posting results, answering telephone queries

*Support the departments specialist Physiology services
