Senior Arthroplasty Fellow - Trauma and Orthopaedics

Job summary

Applications are invited for a Senior Arthroplasty Fellow, to commence as soon as possible until 4th August 2026.

The post holder will work with the Clinical Service Lead, the Complex Arthroplasty Team and the Operational Management team to facilitate the management of Complex Arthroplasty Pathways and to deliver patient centred planning and safe high-quality care.

The Trauma and Orthopaedic department at UHB undertake a comprehensive range of surgical procedures from primary hip and knee arthroplasty surgery through to custom made implants for complex revision cases with massive bone loss. We also undertake a large volume of acute prosthetic joint infection and peri-prosthetic fracture across 3 hospital sites.

It is intended that the appointee will be able to gain experience in the management of complex arthroplasty cases. This will include exposure to Hip and Knee Replacement, Revision Hip and Knee surgery, opportunities to experience trauma surgery, pelvic surgery and pelvic surgery related to arthroplasty on an ad hoc basis.

Main duties of the job

The Arthroplasty Fellow is responsible for promoting the vision and values of University Hospitals Birmingham, leading by example and ensuring that they demonstrate those values in their leadership behaviours and how we support out teams and deliver our services.

The Arthroplasty Fellow is responsible for co-ordinating and delivering safe, high-quality care within their area, incorporating the following:

*Planning and Managing services across all relevant sites to the best level possible to ensure the delivery of safe high-quality care for all patients within the Complex Arthroplasty Service

*Promoting effective and efficient communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives to support and deliver high quality clinical outcome, reduced waiting times and efficient use of resources.

*Ensuring confidentiality is always maintained and a professional manner is demonstrated.
