Main duties of the job

The General Manager is responsible for delivering the Trust's Strategy, including: standardising services across sites to ensure all patients receive high-quality care.

Leading the planning and delivery of multi-site services based on capacity and demand;

Embedding digital technologies to drive innovation and service improvement;

Ensuring effective resource use through income generation, cost reduction, and benchmarking (e.g. HED, Model Hospital, GIRFT).

They will lead sustainable workforce development, align clinical pathways with system partners to reduce inappropriate acute demand, and act as a budget holder.

In support of the Associate Director of Operations, they will ensure financial performance aligns with Trust plans, explore cost-saving opportunities, and manage budgets with finance teams.

They must regularly review workforce needs, ensure all staff have appraisals and development plans, and maintain an integrated workforce plan aligned with Radiology's service and financial goals.

The role includes visible leadership with the Director of Radiology and Head of Imaging, staff engagement, development of service improvement strategies, and income identification.

They will also collaborate with Community, Social Care, Academic partners, and internal stakeholders to align delivery plans, improve access, and support clinical service redesign for better outcomes and efficiency.

  • *GCSE/O Level -- English and Maths Grade C or equivalent
  • *Educated to degree level or equivalent Post graduate qualification or equivalent experience.

  • *Substantial experience in a senior managerial and leadership role within an acute healthcare setting which is commensurate with the complexity and size of the allocated area of responsibility.
  • *Knowledge and experience of leading significant change to patient services, delivering tangible and sustained improvements.
  • *Experience of developing and maintaining active partnerships with stakeholders in the development of services.
  • *Experience of improvement measurement systems and understanding of the role of measurement in performance improvement.
