CALLING ALL ENTHUSIASTIC & MOTIVATED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS! University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) are

recruiting to our established Band 5 rotation across Heartlands, Good Hope, & Solihull Hospitals including Solihull

Community Services. UHB NHS Trust is based in the vibrant city of Birmingham.

Opportunities are available for positions based across all sites providing intervention to adults across a variety of

clinical areas, such as: Stroke & Neurology, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Health Care for older People, Medicals, OPAL,

Respiratory, Specialist Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Renal, Solihull Community. Providing a variety of clinical

experience to consolidate and develop your skills supporting successful career progression within the Trust.

Are you an established Band 5 wishing to experience different clinical fields or in the final year of your degree? You

will be joining a large and supportive therapy team, with robust supervision and appraisal systems, excellent training

and development opportunities, such as Band 5-6 development posts with broader specialist clinical areas included,

such as: Macmillan, Paediatrics, plus more. Coupled with the opportunity to work alongside highly specialist

colleagues and integrate into a variety of specialist multidisciplinary teams.

The Trust provides a preceptorship programme for new graduates. Successful candidates will be required to

participate in 7 day working rotas.

Main duties of the job

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 Caseload Management

* To be responsible for managing his/her own caseload with clinical supervision from senior Occupational

Therapists

* Use this support to reflect and learn from practice

2 OT Role

* To demonstrate confidence in the O.T. role within the Multi professional team

* To recognise the role of other members of the multi professional team, to have knowledge of and use the

resources of each service in the team appropriately

* To demonstrate the application of the OT process to patient care

* Recognise when it may be necessary to carry out Access, Home and follow up visits, with guidance from a senior

colleague

* Carry out straightforward home, access and follow up visits in discussion with senior colleagues, once confidence

and the necessary skills are acquired over time.

3 OT intervention

* To identify all patients requiring OT intervention and prioritise them accordingly to the OT guidelines , with

support of senior colleagues

* Carry out all necessary assessments of the patient's needs in self-care, productivity & leisure

* To establish plans of intervention and carry them out according to OT standards; adjusting as necessary

* To organise discharge plans for patients with guidance from senior colleagues

* To learn and understand about options for patient care in relation to the clinical area
