Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, dynamic, clinical nurse, with an interest in Research, wanting to make the next step in your career?

Within research we currently have a Band 6 position available within the Cancer Research Team based at the QE site.

So, if you are experienced in Oncology and/or Clinical research Delivery, our post could be an exciting opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and skills in the field of research whilst maintaining clinical skills.

The Oncology research portfolio is one of the largest in the region and has an exciting range of commercial, academic, observational as well as complex interventional studies. Across the team we deliver clinical trials across a breadth of disease areas within the oncology field.

You will develop an in-depth knowledge of trial protocols; research processes and you will support the delivery of our expanding research portfolios. The post offers the opportunity to learn about the practicalities of approaching patients for participation in clinical research studies. Managing research participants' care pathways within the research programme in collaboration with their clinical team offers personal development and job satisfaction.

You will have the opportunity to further develop interpersonal communication, organization, time management, & documentation skills.

Essential Criteria for this role:

* Registered level 1 Adult Nurse on the NMC register

* Relevant degree or equivalent in nursing

* Displays genuine interest in the post applied for and can articulate this when questioned

* Experience of working on own and in a team in a health care environment delegating to others within a team / providing supervision to others

* Good IT skills/ ability to record information electronically

* Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff

* Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD

* Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.

* Excellent Communication skills, written & verbally

* Ability to work under pressure across competing demands

* Sound clinical reasoning and decision making

* Positive and enthusiastic attitude

* Well organised

* Evidence of Research knowledge

* Experience of clinical trials/ studies/ research coordination

* Relevant and recent clinical experience within the oncology setting including the supervision/ education of junior staff
