Job summary
The Surgical Education Simulation Fellow is responsible for providing high quality, evidence based, high fidelity and part task Simulation Based Education with a focus on surgical specialities. They are to maintain clinical currency and a portfolio of practice appropriate to their specialist clinical area. They are responsible for functioning as a key member of the UHB simulation faculty and clinical education service, ensuring quality standards are maintained. This unique post offers an exciting opportunity for surgical trainees to develop their experience and skills as medical educators within simulation based education working closely with the Clinical Education and General Surgery Department. Relevant professional development will be completed as a part of this role.
Main duties of the job
Ability to work as an effective member of both clinical and educational teams, demonstrating excellent communication, organisational and team working skills. To support the UHB Simulation Team in the provision of core High Fidelity and part task Simulation Based Education including scheduling, scenario design, delivery and evaluation and learner support.
-Develop to become an effective, experienced and knowledgeable core member of the UHB Simulation faculty to offer surgical expertise to enable advice giving and steer for surgical speciality programmes.
- Act as a link between the UHB simulation team and clinical areas encouraging strong working relationships and acting as advocate and role model for the UHB simulation service.
-Represent and promote the UHB simulation service at both internal and external meetings and conferences and on designated social media.
-Work flexibly, under the guidance of the Clinical Service Lead for Clinical Skills and Simulation and the Deputy Head of Clinical Education to ensure service needs and core business is achieved alongside contributing to the trusts surgical training recovery agenda.
