Specialty Doctor - Oncology

Job summary

Applications are invited to apply for the post of Speciality Doctor in the Oncology Service, based at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB). This post will be based predominantly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, but occasional cross-site working may also be required across our other hospital sites which include: Good Hope Hospital, Solihull Hospital, and Heartlands Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate can expect to work within an innovative and supportive team, compromising of Consultant Oncologists, SpRs, Physician Associates, Speciality Doctors, Junior Doctors, CNS, Nurses, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Pharmacists, whilst being supported by dedicated administrative teams. The team is dynamic, values innovation and provides holistic, co-ordinated care for patients across the Birmingham region. The Speciality Doctor can expect to work independently and autonomously, managing their own patient case load and establishing collaborative relationships with healthcare professionals from the acute and tertiary specialities, to provide quality patient care. Nevertheless, the Consultant team will provide on-going support and clinical guidance. This role will allow experience of radiotherapy, SACT and Acute Oncology cover and associated teaching sessions.

Bespoke Day Unit facilities support the delivery of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive treatments from each hospital site.   • Full registration with the GMC with licence to practice.
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK
  • Medical Degree from a recognised University

Experience

Essential

  • *Minimum of 4 years post full registration clinical experience with at least 24 months within Oncology
  • *Completion of ST1/CT1 and ST2/CT2 or equivalent experience
  • *Ability to verify complete details of employment history
  • *JSD -- Foundation training completed and appropriate experience
  • *Evidence of commitment to Oncology Specialty
