Solihull Community Paediatric Team offers appointments in homes, clinics and schools, telephone appointments and virtual workshops to support parents and professionals. We have team meetings, supervision and CPD sessions each month to support individual and service development. We offer opportunities for home working, and have a base in the north and south of the borough.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 OT who would like a full time, permanent position who would like to experience working in our Paediatric Community Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who have a passion for Paediatrics and who want to develop their skills and knowledge within a supportive environment. Main duties of the job
Duties of a Band 6 O.T in this setting include:
Provide assessment in the areas of self-care, school and play/leisure.
Take a client-centred approach and to advocate on behalf of the child and/or their carers where appropriate
Assess the impact of the environment (physical, social, sensory and cultural) on a child/young person's occupational performance
Assess and make recommendations for the provision of specialist equipment and to monitor its use
Set collaborative SMART goals with children, families and relevant professionals
Use evidence of current best practice to plan, facilitate and evaluate appropriate interventions
Formulate individualised, written home programmes focussed on family-centred goals
Teach therapeutic techniques to parents, carers and education staff to enable them to carry out an OT programme for a child or group of children
Evaluate progress using appropriate outcome measures and to modify strategies where appropriate
Work confidently and effectively within the multi-disciplinary team
Lead in the creation and delivery of service workshops to both families and professionals
Analyse and reflect on the current service provision and lead on service development
Actively participate and contribute to the service's CPD programme
To provide formal supervision and leadership within the team.

- *Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent overseas qualification
- *Registration with HCPC

- *Post graduate paediatric training

- *Able to assess develop and implement appropriate programmes of care, write reports and evaluate outcomes and treatment to meet the needs of clients
- *Experience of working with children and young people.
- *Post graduate experience of advanced clinical reasoning within a range of occupational performance components (Motor, Perception, cognitive, sensory, ADLS)
- *Specialist knowledge of paediatric conditions including DCD, cerebral palsy, autism, sensory processing needs
- *Specialist knowledge of challenges affecting families of children with complex needs
- *Knowledge of clinical governance and its application to community settings
- *Documented evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- *Knowledge of safeguarding including areas of concern and common practice in it's management.
